Rebekah, Sophisticated

Rebekah got to go with Lily to the salon today! She enjoyed her haircut and she got her first manicure. She was the center of attention in the salon as she made the cutest comments on her fingernail colors. Then she dressed up and I had to take a few shots of my little miss sophisticated.

Irvine Regional Park

Our first time in Irvine Regional Park - this place is amazing! There's plenty to do there if you like train rides, horse riding, peacocks, hiking, biking, the petting zoo, paddle boats, or just hanging out.

Reb wanted to be a "Princess Bride" for Halloween, but she ended up looking like just a bride. My little girl looked adorable yet it created an uneasy feeling for me. She'll always be my little girl and a part of me was sad to think that someday she'll be a real bride. She's growing up too fast and I'm afraid to blink my eyes! I'm really dreading that day when I'll hear "who gives this bride away...". Maybe now I know what it feels like to all the dads I've photographed on their daughters' weddings.

We headed to La Mirada Park for their Annual Easter Egg Hunt - this was Reb's first ever. (pictures taken by my iPhone!)

She did really good considering she was really competing with hundreds of grown ups!

Reb in Cancun

We're back from a fun, relaxing, much needed vacation in Cancun, Mexico.

Rebekah truly enjoys being on vacation with us - she gets to play by the pool, run on the beach, jump in the water, and no school to worry about.

We visited Xcaret where they had aquariums, water shows, underground rivers, and Mayan ruins:

Toward the end of our stay in Cancun, we stumbled upon this Thai restaurant in La Isla Mall. It is nestled behind the dolphin aquarium and overlooks the lagoon, which offered a spectacular sunset view. It was a fantastic ending to our trip because it was one of the best Thai restaurants I've ever been to. Their sauces were exquisite, especially the stir fried beef and panang. The view is unbeatable, as we dined under a straw hut on stilts over the water.

My oh my how time flies by! The month of April went by so fast I can't even remember being in "April", except for the brief time that it rained - reminded my of April showers. Rebekah is growing up so fast, but I didn't want to skip two months without posting any updates. Here are some random pics of her with mommy:

Crouching Teddy Bear Hidden Munchkin

My mom gave this red Chinese Dress to Rebekah and she looked so cute and comfortable in it. Then my brother-in-law John mentioned that she looked like a kung fu character. It would have been so cool to have pictures of Rebekah flying through the trees!

We took another trip to The Huntington. I have more pics to show later but I just wanted to share this one of Reb in action.

I love this image because it truly describes Rebekah: she's free spirited, curious, adventurous, energetic, loving, spunky, and above all, she's full of joy. As she runs freely all over the gardens, I can see her mischievous smile - is she frantically looking around because there's so much to explore, is she trying to hide from me, or is she utterly enjoying this moment of freedom where she's allowed to roam unhindered? It doesn't matter. What matters is that I can enjoy watching my daughter be herself and she is happy.

Aquarium of The Pacific, Long Beach

Today we had a nice time visiting Aquarium of The Pacific in Long Beach. It was our first time there so we really didn't know what to expect. That's waht makes it fun because I know that Rebekah has the same adventurous spirit that Daddy has.

Huntington Library Gardens

We as a family love to go site seeing, and one of the favorites places we like visiting is the Huntington Library. We ended up becoming members so we can go any time we want as much as we want. Rebekah especially likes to just walk around to discover new things.

Today we were waiting for Mommy to come home, but we had a little bit of time to kill. So Rebekah and I did another mini photo shoot outside our front yard. The Time of Our Lives

We just came back from a very FUN time in Florida! We got to see Orlando, Kissimmee, Daytona, Palm Harbor, and of course the Disneyworld parks. It was really nice to be able to spend quality time with just the three of us. But what was most memorable was that we saw a change in Rebekah. She just seemed happier in general and she looked forward to each day with us. I can just tell in her eyes and her hugs.

We just love going to the La Mirada Regional Park - it's got so many things to see and do. We have the lake, the hills, hiking, ducks, geese, dogs, rabbits, joggers, trees, and all kinds of stuff for Rebekah to look at. We're so lucky it's just around the corner from our house!

We all went out for a Valentines Dinner - our first choice was Cheesecake Factory, but the wait was going to be two and a half hours! So we skipped toward one of our fav restaurants - Red Lobster. The wait was long there too, but not as bad. At least we had fun with Reb outside - we were chasing her all over the place before I snagged this shot:

La Mirada Park

Downtown Disney!

I took Reb to Downtown Disney yesterday and we had so much fun. It was hilarious to see her with eyes wide open looking around with a huge grin on her face! I have never seen her walk around so much - she would not let me pick her up. You had to have seen it - she went around kissing all the stuffed animals in the Disney Store.

Carbon Canyon Park

We went for a short hike at Carbon Canyon Park in Brea. It was a beautiful day, with crisp clean air, and very blue skies (see the pic below). It's a nice park that features a grove of California Redwoods (the only place to find them in OC). There's a creek that runs along the park that makes for a good hike, but not when you have a baby stroller!

Cal Tech has gotta be one of the most beautiful campuses in SoCal. Rebekah is one who can appreciate nice parks (and schools) - she had a great time exploring the grounds!

Rebekah is now ONE year old!!! How time flew by and how fast she grew up - it is just so amazing to me. She is such a wonderfully cute joyful happy beautiful funny incredible little girl! Reb got so many gifts that she is still opening some presents! We'll probably give her a new toy once every week or so. That way she'll always have something new to play with.
